Sometimes I feel like I can be in Snow White or Bambi with how much I enjoy wildlife. I went to Clarion University of Pennsylvania for a Biology degree thinking that a park ranger job was my calling. After a
visit to Washington, D.C. for a science job fair, and speaking to Department of Interior representatives, that dream was short lived as I couldn’t wait for a full time job position to open up down the road. I moved from the Pittsburgh area to NE Ohio in 1996 to get married, and my wife, Donna, saw an ad for a local lawn service. In April of 1996 I entered the world of corporate lawncare. It wasn’t until January 2019 that I recognized how much better it is to be a part of a family owned lawncare business focused on customer service and premium results.
I like the time spent with clients, new and old, and they get to know me on a first name basis, maybe because my last name is difficult to pronounce, but hopefully because I listen and show empathy for our
customers at Turf Pride. I drive my wife crazy sometimes as we drive by my customer’s properties and I point out all of them! I never believed that I’d be a good teacher, but talking to thousands of customers and the employees that I trained, including Dave, Turf Pride’s owner, I can see the fruits of my knowledge I have passed along. I try to make sure that our specialists have all the skills they need to eventually take my position, not just by telling them what to do, but showing them the how, what, when, and why of lawn and landscape care!
At Turf Pride I’ve been in a position to use my knowledge to help almost every botanical aspect of a client’s property. It gives me so much satisfaction when I can help transform stressed or struggling plants into something beautiful!
